so $300 MORE ?? This is what I was getting at. That $300 is not necessary if you purchase the correct interface. I can see needing one of those if your studio has more than one DAW and 3 sets of monitors, It looks like a great piece of equipment for complex set ups, But sort of way overkill if you have is a simple set up.

So because the interface is missing a common feature you have to spend more money now.

A lot of interfaces lack this feature.  Roland's among others.
 
My cheap Mackie has monitor and headphone as separate functions, which is why I bought it.
