whack
Folks,
One of my mates is getting married in a few months and I wrote this hungover one day, to be honest I thought it turned  out damn well andI hope he likes it when I give it to him on the day.

Anyway as always I would appreciate anything that stands out,or recommendations about the mix etc

Thanks

Cian

Kinda like it
The piano reminded me of this

Make it stand out by ditching the keys and do a string quartet instead with some glockenspiel or chimes

I'm not sure I would do the percussion like that. Personally, I would add a kit and bass when you bring up the volume with the first saying of, "she is your bride" about a quarter of the way through. I think the song needs that instead of the way you do the percussion.

Good song and well played/sung!!!

Cian,

Nice work.   Vocals are really good.  To me the piano sounds more like a placeholder or sketch in the context of the overall production.    There are spots where I would leave the piano or piano fills but  I hear some basses, cellos,  violas and violins in this song.   Maybe some acoustic guitar??   I like the orchestral percussion at the end and you could also add some random percussion a little earlier in the song as well.   The song itself is really great and I am sure your friend is going to love it.

Regards

I think it's Tubular Bells and somehow in this song, they make me thing of christmas.
Very nice tune and nice production, though.

+1 to the above - great song!

Arrangement/mix-wise I also think it needs something more at "your bride".   As yet another alternative, maybe try E piano and upright bass for the first section, with strings coming into to bump things up at the "your bride" line, and then percussion (but punchier) about where you have it now?

i'm assuming you intend to sing this song with you and piano on the day? hence this arrangement? if not then i agree with the above comments regarding more instrumentation. As ever Cian the vocal is extraordinary. you'd prob want to fine tune the delay on the vocal for a finished vocal. The ending gets a bit hokum!

I'm sure your friend will be honored. There are many good suggestions in here already. My only one is to lessen the delay and reverb on the vocal.

I would not change a thing. Your friend will love it. It is a perfect song for him. Really nice singing, lyrics, and production.
