I thought this blog was kind of "out there" until it slowly dawned on me that its author was Bob Crowley, the founder of Crowley and Tripp microphones. He is the guy that sold the ribbon microphone company to Shure so there's probably a few things he knows about the subject:

yeah, he's a pretty sharp guy! If you have not heard the Crowley and Tripp microphones (or the Shure versions thereof) do not do so unless you have some cash lying around!

I think I messed up the link when I fixed some bad spelling. I fixed the link to part one and added the link to part two.
 
I've been using my ribbons on over heads a bunch and I was glad to read the ideas about how they are more robust then I have been taught to think.
