Yeah, very few people know what I'm talking about when I say "Daw"....   I'll wager most think I'm trying to do a Homer Simpson imitation and rather poorly.

So I just say "recording studio"  ... a bit longer but at least they know what I'm talking about.

This is what I call it.  It also sounds more impressive than "the laptop in my spare bedroom."

Like Herb, most people I talk to have no idea what a DAW is. I refer to it as "the software I use to make records". Even most bass players grasp the general concept.

P.S. Herb, some arcane trivia just for you: a guy with the same surname as you invented the dynamic microphone.

That's pretty cool, I think. The only inventor with my surname came up with...crop rotation.

Oh, I forgot about the other one: the windmill guitar strumming technique. Different distant relative.

D-A-W seems like such effort. I've always called it a DAW.
As SCSI was scuzzy not S-C-S-I

Another English ... type thing?

It's 1-Zero-1 Bapu ... not 1-Oh=1!

But it sounds good!

When I was young we didn't have ones, we had to use lowercase "L's" instead...
