I recently am getting my first run through the ARIA player and hit a niggle right out of the chute. Many patches have the mod wheel set to velocity, so a quick run-through of patches (just to hear them) is not possible as both hands are on the keyboard to play it. I also have my A300 offset to the right, so have to reach across myself to activate the mod wheel.
 
Is there a way to simply disable that from the ARIA player itself? I am also using this in stand-alone mode so far, so not sure if putting it into a DAW is a "solution," but a few ideas come to mind. I hope I just missed something simpler here than I am making it into.

I don't know of any way except to put it in a DAW and create an automation envelope...

I am using the Garritan Aria player and what I do is leave the mod wheel set about half way.
 
I use the same technique when using the Aria Player in Sonar.

Thanks for the responses! Dan's method is what first came to mind, since the A300 has a pretty strong set of springs in the mod/pitch "paddle." I got to the point that I had to anchor my hand to the controller to use it after more than a few minutes. I will try the automation route.
 
In some respects it is cool that it forces the "breath and bow" technique, but is a PITA without a simple override function.

I love everything else about the A300, but that mod paddle kills me.  I much prefer the mod wheel on my Axiom.  You can leave it halfway, or wherever and it just stays.  Not sure why Roland like those joysticks so much.

Yup, and I am not sure what the springs look like in there (I assume 3) since the pitch wheel is part of the paddle. I had considered moving the keyboard 8" to the left so the paddle was easily accessible but realized that solution would be too easy Then I decided I was too lazy to tear it apart to take the spring off, so had to shoot for some middle ground.
 
I haven't looked at the sfz files yet, but the "blending textures" use the MOD wheel to adjust layer velocity, so this spring may become an issue. The articulation keys are nice, but not practical on the A300 anyway, so I will probably end up getting and old Keystation 61es out again (I "think" the MOD wheel on that guy isn't spring loaded, but totally forget now).
