I went ahead and bought the ABA acoustic bass guitar and on the inital audition it really does sound good and is a welcome addition range of bass sounds.

Sorry I have not yet got around to trying to drag MIDI into riffer as a non music project and finalising a mix has been taking up much of my time.

Congrats on your purchase of ABA.

I have been working with the guys at Ample Sound about the midi to Riffer issue.  At this point, it appears one needs to select the midi track, do a 'Save As' and choose either type 0 or 1 midi file. At that point you can drag the saved file into the Riffer but only a couple of bars will show up.

They are working with a midi file I sent them but it currently seems very limited vs. the tab to Riffer. I still have high hopes for this feature as it matures.

Also, they just released a 2.5.1 update for the bass instruments. I don't remember what all is involved but the updates should be in your Ample Sound account.

Kind regards,
Rick

The 2.5.1 update adds another 300 riffs!

I bought the MM 5 string. I just "had to".

It's installed. Not used it yet, just quick perusal.

Guess I need to install the 2.5.1 update now. And so it goes.

OK, I've held out so far, but this sale expires on Monday.  So I looked for a demo download for the new basses, Yin Yang & Metal Ray5, but the only electric bass that they have available as a trial is the P-Bass.

I already have the free P-bass, which I think sounds quite realistic, but I would opt for one of the new models for this deal.

I like the idea of the 5 string model, but they are marketing it as a metal bass.  All the examples are in this genre.  Is it possible to play it clean like an actual Stingray5?  Can you control the pick up and EQ settings?  Or is it only sampled as an angry metal bass?

I like the sounds of the actual Stingray5 being demoed here.  If this thing can sound like this, I'm in!

The Stingray does have an aggressive tone but all the effects can be turned off. Clean it still has attitude. Through Amplitube Fender 2 bass amp sim it sounds bloody marvelous.

Thanks Glyn!  I like the natural tone of the real Stingray5, but was a bit hesitant on the Metal Ray 5, thinking Ample had jacked it up or something.  Must be marketing!

I am sold on the Riffer, just no way to audition the two new basses.  I am playing around with the trial version of Ample P Bass II v2.5.1.  This sounds like a real P-Bass!
