70/- yes, 80/- yes, 90/- ages ago ;-)
Actually, we don't really get much of any "shilling" beer nowadays - it's all "pale ale", "blonde", "red ale" etc.
It still tastes as good though ;-)
 

I thought I remembered 65, 75 and 85 shilling ale. Of course, it could have been 70, 80 and 90. It was a night to remember. Or forget. Can't remember which. A Six Nations rugby match between Ireland and Scotland in Edinburgh. Ireland won 41-6. Much high shilling ale that night!
 
I probably conflated the English 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5 ABV ratings with the Scottish shilling ratings. Specific gravity? Heck, just draw me a pint!
