Howdy folks, we've been sequestered in our studios this year and finally have something to show for all that time.  I hope everyone is doing well.  The truth is that we have been working on several songs, this one just took a little while to get it the way we wanted it.  So hopefully we'll have a couple more tunes rolling out before too long.  This song and the next couple will complete the tracks for our 5th CD and we will begin assembling that project soon after those songs are 100%.

So yeah, we have a new song called Shimmer Delight and we have two ways to check it out.
Via Soundclick.....(song only).....  http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=833098
and then we have a video for the song courtesy of Tom available on Youtube  available here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loJmquc1l1Q&feature=youtu.be
The song mix is the same in both the music only and the video version.

This tune was a lot of fun to work on and it is bit longer than most of our tunes but there are some twists in it so if you start to nod off after about 2 1/2 minutes, just hang tight and it will change up for you.

The perpetrators of this melodic crime...
Tom McCaffrey:  Vocals, bass, synth, mixing, videomeister
Preston Richardson:  Drums, percussion, drum engineering....it was Preston's video of his final drum take that inspired Tom and then me to record some video so Tom could make the video.
Tony Wood:  Guitars

Thanks for taking the time to check out the tune (and maybe the video) and feel free to comment however you like, good...bad, ugly, indifferent.  We welcome all comments and crits.

Nice guys up to your normal quality, one minor little thing, might be hitting a mode in my room but that bass is resonating just a tad to long here.  Sweet

Nice sound. The vocals seems a bit low, but I guess it's supposed to be this way ?

I'm glad to see a post from you guys.

I love this number.  The drums and the rhythm created by those interestingly panned guitars really drove this song along.  The vocals are a bit soft but I think that just adds to the song.  The little noises (claps,etc.)/instruments/etc. that accent the song are a delight.  Of course the mix is right on.

Great stuff y'all.   Excellent!!!

Hey, Tony,

Absolutely fantastic to see you back around on the forum, and to get to hear another tasty new track from the DT boys!

Dynamite song with your instantly recognizable Distant Towers trademark sound!  Cool, quirky songwriting and arrangement, excellent playing and vocals, and a crisp, clear, wide and perfectly balanced mix.

I'm on my third watch for the video, Preston's classy drumming and Tom's punchy bass and synth make a richly textured bed for the deep vocals and tasty variety of guitar tones and excellent guitar work spread throughout this gem!  I really loved the talk box solo, cool stuff!

Is that a brand new white strat you're playing in the video, or did I just never know you had that one?  Either way, sounded perfect for the style of the song.

Super job, guys, and the really cool video was an added extra bonus!

Have a good one,
Bob

Very cool tune. Love that opening. There may be some unwanted distortion in your low guitar on the left, listen between 1:45 and 2:15. Other than that one thing, I like this mix a lot.

This should be on Banshee...never got boring for me.

Regards,
Dan

Thanks folks, I'll have to give a blanket thank you as I am busy preparing to get married (2nd time) this Friday and heading off to the Great White North the week after.  Tom will be checking in and will appreciate the crits and we do appreciate the kind words and everyone taking time to listen...and hopefully watch....although we ain't much to look at!  LOL

Very perceptive Bob, the silver Strat is a new addition to my collection, my first real Strat ever.  I didn't actually use it on Shimmer though, that was my PRS Custom 22 SE.  I am looking forward to that single coil sound in some of our next few songs.

Dan I am unfamiliar with Banshee but we'll check it out, thanks!

Thanks all!

Sounds good!   Definitely DT...    Cool feel, just a little eerie, yet sorta pop-y.   With a cool talk-box solo to boot.    And the mix is completely fat and wide.   Oh, and the vocals remind me a little of the theme song to Vikings.

Thanks all for the listen and good ears!!! Yea this one was in the oven for longer than most but it was so much fun just didn't want to let her go...lol but yea we had a good ole time putting the shine on her for sure.

Wookie - Thanks for the listen bub...hope your doing well! Not sure what going on w/the bass on that end..but I'll take a peek w/a good ear out for anything silly...again thanks for the input and taking the time to listen!

Steen - I'll be honest I dont normally have an idea where a tune is going until we are fairly far down the track. With that said the vox volume kinda made its way where it is on its own...and yes I'd say its a bit low..but as stated, kinda where she sounded the best as thing worked out. Thanks for the listen and input!

Freddy me boy!! Hope your well buddy! We are all fine here. Glad you found something you liked in the tune and yea we hid a few easter eggs here and there and that seemed to work out well (at least for your ears and mine as well..lol) Glad your still hanging here and I plan on putting my listening ears on here in a few so I'll catch your stuff as well! take care bro!

Back soon.....

Wonderful stuff as always guys. If the track had a 'difficult birth' it doesn't sound like it, everything works well to my ears. Great to have a vid with the 3 of you visible! The only minor nit I have is that Preston is out of synch in the vid occasionally, but that didn't spoil the enjoyment. Keep 'em coming boys.
