Did this get mentioned? Paul has released a new version of VPO with all the sustains looped. No more short woodwinds samples, you can now blow your brains out for as long as you like. Its SFZ and works well with Sforzando. Oh and its free.

Thanks ZincTrumpet, but I should mention that the great Paul Battersby is the guy responsible for VPO. I just noticed that it hadn't been mentioned here (I think) and figured I'd be like cclarry and spread the word of a good deal.

What is a great find!  Thanks for sharing!  Works great with Plogue sforzando.

Just add some reverb and you're good to go!

This is a nice complement to the SONiVOX Orchestral Companions, that lack true solo string instruments.  You will find plenty here

How does one go about getting this ?Do I have what I need to play these instruments in SPlat ?
Or Do I have to find and download a 3rd party player first ?

Just go grab the free Plogue sforzando.  It's a sfz file player.  It can even open Dimension Pro files.
https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando/

Then download the VPO2 zip file and put it somewhere you like.

Under settings in sforzando, there is a place to select your user files path.  Just set the location you unzipped the orchestra files to.  All set!

You can browse to the instruments by using the dropdown selector in the "Instrument:" window.  Scroll down to "User" and you will find them there.

This is basically what you might call a curated orchestra. Paul picked what he felt were the best samples from Sonatina, VSCO2, Iowa, No Budget and some other sources and then worked on them to create as much cohesion as possible.
