I actually know a lawyer that CAN'T pass a bar (which is why he lost his license and now drives a truck for a living - great job for an alcoholic, eh?).

I think law school isn't required to be a lawyer; you just have to pass the bar exam.




Actually that option is limited to only a few states, and always requires an apprenticeship with a lawyer and supervised study in order to qualify to take the bar exam.

I've always assumed that most lawyers are alcoholics.  How else would they squelch their conscience?

I have a soft spot for lawyers.  I studied to be a paralegal.  Problem is..the male lawyers (here) prefer female paralegals.  The female lawyers (here) prefer female paralegals.   Maybe I should transition?

A degree doesn't mean you are exceptionally smart, and you don't have to be exceptionally smart to get a degree.
 
That said, I use my degrees every day and although they took me forever to get (BS at 33 and Masters at 40), they were totally worth the time and money in my book.
