Its complicated for transexuals and I know they suffer big time. Taking on another gender than one was born with is tough to do. Despite that, it simply isn't true or HONEST to say they become the opposite sex. They have the genes of their former gender we live in a milieu, (pew). There's much more to identity than self identity. And likewise the millieu is much more complex than what they see as binary patriarchy.
I really don't understand the issue.
As a person in a monogamous relationship, i really don't care what gender someone else is. The only reason I WOULD care is if i wanted to sleep with them. But thanks to my wife that's not a factor.
To me, if someone is uncomfortable enough with their gender/image-of-gender that they have their genitals chopped off (or take hormone pills, or whatever), I'm willing to address them as whatever gender they want! They've earned that, and it's virtually no effort on my part to show that person respect. I can't imagine the stress and trauma that leads to that change.
As for the genetic make-up of their bodies, who cares? I'm not a biologist.
