  • Having multiple instruments pre loaded in a template

I've seen a number of Youtube videos where people have created a template in their DAW, with perhaps as many as 30 virtual instruments loaded and ready to go.  While most of them are in Logic, I want to believe most DAWS have similar functions.   When they want to record, they simply click a button to activate the track and start recording.  Each instrument is tweaked to just how they want it and the track is named accordingly.  For example they may have several multis loaded in a single instrument, and would call that track "soft string pad."

Is there a way to do this?  Like building 30 tracks of different sounds that have been tweaked then freeze each track?  If this would work it would save me a lot of time searching multiple string libraries for just the right string sound...
I have a fairly robust system, but I would think loading all of those instruments would eat up a lot of horsepower and crash.

I am all ears.

This should probably be moved to another forum...?

In any case, yes, you can do this in Sonar. Create a project with your synths and tracks the way you want and save it as a TEMPLATE. Open that when you want to start a new project with that setup.

Honestly, it might make sense for orchestral setups, maybe, but I've yet to do two projects that use the same synths and settings.

Dan
