Steve,

I missed the 1 mix. I can picture the improvements, I can see that the shaker would help to add something to that part. Loved the string sounds (I love strings in general). Overall I find that it works really well. I have no problems with the mix or what you have done with it. Sounds ace to me. I'll give you a gold star for this one :)

Thanks, Gus!  I am glad you liked it.   Nothing to be missed with mix 1 though, I think the suggested changes made a noticeable improvement.  Gotta love the feedback in this forum.

PS...   I've placed the star on my forehead, but now people are looking at me funny.

Hello Steve,

Props to you for being able to play so many instruments so proficiently.  I bow down.  I love the specific sounds you coaxed out of each instrument.  Very cool, and yes, it does sound like Floyd at 3:00.

To me, it seems like the piano is a little behind from about 10 seconds to 1:30.  The bass and drum seem to be on, but the piano just seems to lag ever so slightly.  Maybe it is the reverb or some other effect that is making it seem like that.  Of course not being able to see your specific track view and plugs I could be way off base.

If this was my song, I would make a few splits on the piano track and play with the nudge....just to prove myself wrong

Regardless, inspiring that you took this project on.

Thanks, Keni!   Good to know the mix is translating.   I'm not sure about Mt. Everest, but I don't think that I'd call it a nice gentle slope either.      And completely likewise regarding the props - your playing speaks for itself.

Thanks again, Jesse!   I've been playing music for a long time... not as long as some folks around these parts, but probably longer than others have been alive.       But thank you.
I suspected that if anything was going to sound just a bit off time it probably would be the piano, so thanks for confirming.  It could be the way I have the plugins set up, I'm not sure.  But I will give it another listen!

I heard this a few days ago and thought someone else did as it followed another song from someone else. This is spectacular! Great vocals and everything else! I love all the differences to the original as well.

Excellent!!!

stevec - I would like to tell you that you did a great job on the harmonies - I think you found some paths there that were very lovely and original. I enjoyed listening to your song very much :)

Thanks, Robert!   I appreciate the positive comments and am very happy that you liked my take on this classic piece.

Thanks, Laura!   Receiving specific compliments on something vocal related is certainly appreciated since I don't consider my vocals to be a strong point.  Particularly since I listed to your song just yesterday so I know where your vocals fall!

Steve - this is fantastic. I did a version myself - was just guitar and drums - would have no idea how to put together something like this - sounds complicated - and I would say you nailed it.

Thanks, Mark!   I appreciate that.   Funny thing is that it's not an overly complicated song but does have a number of identifiable pieces that, for me, all matter.   Well, maybe the crescendos aren't "simple"...   I've read that they recorded (and layered) the orchestra four times with nothing more than George Martin's notes dictating which note should fall at the beginning of each measure.   Otherwise, it's a complete mish-mash.  But it was fun to do.
