Yes, I posted this once before, but I have been tweaking in my room.

Generally, there are about 20 transients that pop above -3.

AA6 says -16 trms
-6 max rms
Avg rms -19

DNR 62
DNR used 59
Loudness 14.7
perceived loudness -12.4

No compression or limit on the master on export from sonar plat, judicious eq cuts, though.

Imported to AA6, very  light compression added to track, nothing else.

Comments appreciated on the mix, or anything else.  I would like to know how this translates across the universe.  I only wonder how sounclick has adulterated my MIX!

As always, your stuff is great fun to puzzle through. I personally would like to hear more of the instruments, they seem quite buried to my ears. Fun vocals. Keep at it!

I really like the creativity/uniqueness of your songs, but it's hard to figure out where you're heading with the mix (the instruments weave in/out of play). I do like the guitar track and would've like to hear it throughout the song (a nice funky grove)....and also agree with Kevin on the instruments being buried. You sure are dedicated to falsetto....keep it up!!.....waaaay up!! lol

Well, for an unlimited mix it does have some punch!  It cuts through real well.

Thanks for the comments.  I appreciate them.

I am at a stage where I really want to improve my mixes and how they come out in the real world.  I have been moving my room around, trying different monitor placement, treatment placement, listening with my ears and my mind, doing the math of "music."  I'm hell bent to figure this out.  It might not be a realistic goal, but I want to make mixes that don't need LANDR, or mastering.

Kevin, the fact that the instruments sound a bit buried tells me a lot about my tweaks thus far.  I will take that into consideration next time I work on a mix.  The way I see it, most folks on the song forum have good listening environments, so if something is amiss it will show up, where in my room it might be masked by "the room."  So it is good to hear how it sounds because it gives me a certain direction on my next mix.

Acoustics and their impact are so weird, but very interesting.

Steve, I'm not sure what you mean by an unlimited mix, but I think it is a positive that it cuts through.  Sometimes peoples posts can be so cryptic, or at least seem that way, so I make a point to take everything at face value.

I'm glad you like the falsetto Mesh  I'll make a point to keep it up!

Thanks fellas, you have helped much.

My listening environment is mostly awful, so I use headphones almost exclusively. They're decent headphones, AKG something or another, pretty accurate with a slight bass bump.

I suspect Steve meant that you had no compressor/limiter on the master bus, thus "unlimited." That was my take anyway.

Kevin, thanks for the clarification!  I did not make the connection between unlimited and the lack of limiting, but I believe you are right. Most excellent.

Sorry....  I probably should have added a hyphen and used the word "non", as in, a "non-limited" mix.   Aka, no limiter added.   Or unlimited, as in there are no limits to what one can do.   Either definition will suffice.

Steve, I'm easily confused.  You did just right.  Besides, we get to have another internet interaction of clarification

Yep, no limits, nada, I believe that, but is it possible?  I believe it is, and you do too, right?

Indeed....   At least mostly.   Whatever limits there may be tend to change over time anyway, so it's all subjective.
