If it was hard to imagine Dream Theater without co-founder Mike Portnoy on drums, imagine having to go out and find a replacement. Of course, we now know 6 years later that DT did successfully fill those enormous shoes and the new guy is absolutely phenomenal, but I found the audition process fascinating. Personally, I'd have chosen the German guy.

Thanks for posting that Dave!  Although I have a lot of work to get done today, that was a fun hour or so.
 
I can definitely see your position about Marco, but I think it was the personal background that Mike already had with the band that swayed the final vote.  Regardless, after I finish with my ELO kick (yes, ELO, not Eloy who I finished with two days ago - LOL), I'll have to have a Dream Theater day now. 

I like watching Marco Minneman with The Aristocrats, he always looks like he's having a such a great time
