Thanks everyone I'll give it a try today. BTW I have Sonar 6 on both my old (retired) computer and my new computer. So transfer should be easy.

I edited my post for clarity. They are two separate options. They both work.

The only reason I can think of that you'd need to use the same version of Sonar would be to make sure that the computer you're going to has all the proper synths and effects that were used in the original. However, you don't actually need the same version of Sonar for that, as long as the computer you're going to has all the plug-ins you used (of course, if the plug-ins were used desctructively and are no longer used in the project, you won't need them).

I transfered some of the files over to my new computer using a .cwb file and they all transfered. Now when I went to play the files I have no audio. All the tracks and wav files are there just no audio. When I recorded them on my old computer I used WDM drivers and now I'm using ASIO drivers, surely that wouldn't matter. I'm not sure if I'm transfering the whole file or not using .cwb.

Although this should happen automatically wne you use a bundle file, check to make sure that Sonar, on the second computer, knows where the audio files are stored. If the second computer is set to "per project folders" then the audio should be stored in a folder called "Audio" right in the folder where the other files are stored. Or, Sonar could be set up to expect all the audio files to be in a particular folder. You can figure out what folder Sonar thinks the audio files are in by checking options/global/folders.

Hasn't everyone been on the "Don't use bundle files" bandwagon due to their unreliability and all eggs in 1 basket type of thinking.

Not me. For portability and backward compatibility with older versions of Sonar, bundles work fine. For archiving and backup: not a good thing because of the eggs in one basket reason. As far as corruptability, they're no more prone to corruption than any other file type, including CWP, but if you lose the bundle you lose all your audio too.

Of course you could compact the cwp and per-project audio into one neat file with WinRar and you'd end up with a smaller file.

Hey All

I transfered 6 songs over yesterday. I still have no sound (audio). I see there is a folder on my harddrive that says audio, and there is a ton of .wav files in there. I'm assuming that's why I'm not hearing audio. How do I get them from that folder to get them to play, surely I don't have to drag them into the tracks on Sonar. As you can tell I'm not very computer savy.

Thanks
Tman

Options>Global>Audio Data. Set it to point to the folder with your audio files. If you don't want this to be your permanent audio folder, you can copy the files where you like and point the audio data folder wherever you like.

I suggest you try  I think it is a wonderful program to transfer .cwp files from one computer to another over the network.  It can also help to share your computer files and folders to let other networked users download anytime.
