Got it and dearly loving it, Rick. I'm on K5.6 mind you. The sound is simply marvelous. Way better than EastWest's Bechstein of course. Also love its tweakability, particularly String EQ. Some people compare this library to the omnipotent VSL grand but I simply adore that idiosyncratic Bechstein sound, for Bach, but also for rock, pop and ballads. As in Elton John, Rick Wright, Freddie Mercury and The Beatles (Hey Jude).

Wow, Fleer man I am So happy for you! Sounds like it is the killer it is advertised to be. Just curious, did you have to pay VAT that was included in the price?

Also, did you get the Mercury too?

Thanks Rick! Tax seems to be included indeed. Bechstein Digital is like having a real one with added tweakability. Amazing sound design. And Mercury is simply the sweetest Fazioli I ever played. Freddie sitting next to you. Kudos to Wavesfactory. These are good times for sampled grands indeed. Also have a look at ImpactSoundworks Pearl for that typical Yamaha sound with very nice presets.

I find almost any piano vst a hard sell. There's just a certain dynamic that's always missing in the sound.

"Until some genius comes up with the solution for having the other 87 strings vibrating in sympathetic harmonic resonance when you strike a single key, then all we will have is yet another beautifully sampled piano, discrete, dry and disconnected from the cornucopia of musical vibration that is .... a piano." - thehightenor (Gearslutz)

What I tried so uneloquently to say.

In spite the flat plastiky sound prevalent in all sampled pianos, this one probably sounds the best to me. The Grand Atmo demo almost fools you, but it's probably the atmo part that's doing it. I hate over processed demos that make an instrument sound better than it really does or that hide it.

Looks like it can be used with Kontakt player so you don't need to buy kontakt. However, does the player limit your kontrol of the Bechstein in a way that would make you want to buy the full kontakt version?

And I dearly love this one. These two months have been grand indeed, with the Wavesfactory Mercury Fazioli and this Bechstein Digital.
Johann Sebastian, here I come.

A testimony to keeping it simple. Over thought, over miked, over sampled pianos sound too sterile to me. How many mics do they put on a piano when recording a song?!

Interesting quote from Keyboards mag review: “First and foremost, it achieves a direct first place against all its followers (…) To-date, I wasn’t a big fan of sample libraries. That has just changed with the publication of the Bechstein “Digital Grand Library” for Kontakt. It all sounds really splendid and can also be played very authentically.“
