Something you all might want, for the full pedal configs... found this little company out while searching for multi-cc pedals for expression/volume/breath controller to usb...

Rob is an awesome dude:  Audiofront
Very rapid response to my questions on his forum

Reasons to use MIDI Expression

  • You want hands-free control of your DAW or other music software.
  • You want to use different pedals without needing to mess with any settings.
  • You want to turn your pedals and footswitches into MIDI foot controllers.
  • You need a compact and hassle-free pedal interface for your live performances.
  • You want to give your virtual piano all the pedals found on a regular piano.
  • You want to trigger velocity sensitive notes with an expression pedal.
  • You want a hands-free way to audition patch changes and presets.
Check out some videos and have a look at the manual to see if MIDI Expression is right for you.

Well, after listening to the demos....  I'd better start saving up for Kontakt and the Bechstein! Wow.
and thanks Vastman for the AudioFront link    didn't know about them. The only one I had found for breath control was http://www.tecontrol.se/products/usb-midi-breath-bite-controller-2

I agree! ew's Bechstein was boring to my ole ears but this is lovely... hope to make loads of $ on the house sale!  Then I'll have time to learn to really play and become a piano slut like Fleer!

Breath controller also on my list... Thanks, Michael!

Found this Uboob shoot out of virtual pianos made 2½ yrs ago from $30 to $679. Not surprising they all sound very similar but for very very slight improvement the higher priced they go. One of the NI's had a nasty side affect on a couple notes. The $679 example sounds best but way way too much. I'd put it on the same shelf as this one and the rest on the shelf below it.

Today's prices may vary from 2014.

Then there's this.

Did you check the velocity issue with support? Would be interested to know their view on this.

I sent them the above info and a screenshot of the velocity histogram. Got a reply Sunday night:

"thank you for your message and detailed feedback. We're working hard to find out whats going on here exactly. We will respond to your question shortly.

Best regards"

Velocity issue was mainly in the DETAILS tab SHAPE control and me not knowing what it was or how to use it. I set it to flat 50% and it evened things out. Cool that you can change this depending on your style of playing.

Have to give their support response time and effort in helping customers a big thumbs up. They seem really interested in getting issues solved.

"Until some genius comes up with the solution for having the other 87 strings vibrating in sympathetic harmonic resonance when you strike a single key, then all we will have is yet another beautifully sampled piano, discrete, dry and disconnected from the cornucopia of musical vibration that is .... a piano." - thehightenor (Gearslutz)

Revisiting this thought since I did a simple comparison on a real piano.

1st, when you sample a single key, you're getting whatever resonance it makes along with it in the sample, no?!
So... ehh! Maybe, maybe not.

2nd, I recorded samples of each note in one octave. Then recorded a few 2 and 3 key chords from that octave, placed them all in Sonar to compare and... to my surprize.... and disbelief.... the layered individual notes played together sounded nicer and fuller than the single chord samples. So why do sampled pianos sound so "flat"?
We may need to ask Mr. Owl.

I have a foot pedal that came with my Alesis QS7.1 keyboard that hooks up via (I believe) a 1/4 inch jack. I only use my keyboard as a midi controller.....will that foot pedal work on the midi controller?
(as you can tell, I'm not a keyboardist and haven't really looked into it )
