  • Arturia VST3 crash inside Sonar

I just picked up the Arturia V-Collection during their 15th anniversary sale. It installed with no problem, but the 3 VST3 synths (Analog Lab, Oberheim SEM, Wurlitzer) crash Sonar whenever I try to load them into Sonar. I've rescanned the plugins and it seems to not make a difference. The Arturia VST2 plugins work fine.

Anyone else with the V-Collection having this problem? The plugins work fine standalone and I don't have another VST3 host that I can use to test.

Edited (- I incorrectly said the VST 3 versions worked, but meant the VST 2)

The VST 2  versions work great, so just for now get rid of the VST 3 ones, and you should be ROCKING.

Those synths are fabulous - I went through the same nightmare a couple of months ago.

If I recall correctly, they actually worked up until something like X3c or d.

Anyways, once the issue gets resolved by either Cakewalk or Arturia, or both, you can bring the VST 3 versions back.

Yea, I used some "extended demos" (if you get my drift) of the Moog Modular and the Arp 2600 many years ago in my younger days. I hadn't though and saw this sale as the perfect opportunity to get them again and be totally legit. I'm really disappointed that I can't use the SEM, mainly because it sounds so fabulous (and a dream to program, too). I do have the OP-X Pro II to hold me over, though. Sounds like I need to start bothering Arturia about it to see what they say.

Maybe if Reaper ends up adding VST3 support sooner, I can just rewire from there until this gets fixed.

Hang on - the VST 2 versions work just fine in X3e.  You just have to get rid of the VTS 3 versions - until the issues get fixed.

There is NO reason to drop the whole bunch of them, and VST 2 modules sound the same as their VST 3 versions, so you aren't losing a thing, other than whatever functions a VST 3 version brings to the table.

Yup the main benefit with VST3 as far as I'm aware is that when the plugin isn't being used CPU isn't being used up unlike VST2. It's more efficient.

Rewiring it to another DAW will just chew up plenty more resources.
