Hi all,i need an advice by my forum's fellows and Traktor users.
I'm trying to sync Traktor Pro 2 with Sonar X3 in one pc to play our awesome Rapture and zt3a 2 for an House Session live set in Rome.
It's all right with audio and controller part but Sonar don't feel the sync trough the virtual midi cable (LoopBe or Midi Yoke).....
Maybe i something wrong with a midi set sync tab in Sonar?
This is my steps:
Traktor midi send on
Traktor Generic Midi interface LoopBe in and out
Traktor Master on and play and send midi clock on
Sonar sync options tab:
Stay for MTC on (no internal trigger)
Check Midi source and play
Let the source clock and wait the timecode
Where i'm wrong?

Can you help me?

Greetings

I don't have a setup in front of me to try this, but Sonar should be set to receive MIDI clock if that's what Traktor is sending. MTC and MIDI clock are not the same thing.

From Sonar's documentation:

1. Configure the external MIDI device you want to use as the master device to transmit MIDI Sync.
2. Go to Edit > Preferences > MIDI Devices.
3. Make sure that your MIDI interface is highlighted in the Inputs list, and click OK.
4. Click the Transmit MIDI Sync button in the Sync module to use the MIDI Sync clock source. From now on, SONAR starts playback and recording only after the appropriate message is received from the master device.

It seems counter-intuitive to click transmit MIDI sync to receive MIDI sync, but I guess that's how it works...

Let me know if that does the job or not, as I also use Traktor and can test more extensively in a few days.

It driving me crazy........i have done every step in the manual but i read a message "waiting for the time code at 30 fps" in sonar display but.....nothing...
I have tried three virtual midi cable (Loopbe,Midiyoke and Loopmidi)but Traktor and Sonar feel something but don't wanna talk togheter.........i'm so close.......
Any advice?

I can get Traktor to sync to Sonar. Is that good enough?

However, now I need to figure out how to get the deck to follow the tempo...

The plot thickents. I tested Traktor's output with MIDI-Ox, and it Traktor does generate Start, Stop, and Clock. I used MIDI-Ox to send Start, Stop, and Clock commands to Sonar, and it recognized them. AND I could trigger both of them simultaneously from MIDI Ox, although it doesn't seem to be the most stable clock source on the planet. So I'm not sure why Sonar can't slave to Traktor.

Ohh...Do you have Traktor and Sonar in sync ?
Awesome! How did you do?
It's my goal.....but like you said Sonar doesn't see the start.....it waits for the midi clock......maybe it's a Sonar bug couse the steps to put in sync Sonar with a master it's not very difficult.
Let me know your setting for Sonar midi and sync options and many thanks again!!

I was able to sync Sonar to Ableton Live, Sony Acid, and Steinberg Cubase as well as MIDI Ox. It seems Sonar can sync to pretty much anything except Traktor.

Do you want to know how to slave Traktor to Sonar, or how to sync both of them to the MIDI Ox "transport" that sends MIDI sync?
