  • Strange Drop Down Menu Problem

Hi all.

I'm using X2 and I've had my share of issues with automation and comping but this one takes the cake(walk)!

The 'Insert' drop down menu keeps randomly engaging by itself making it near impossible to do anything.  The only thing that has changed is I updated Superior 2.3.2 to 2.4 and also updated several Toontrack libraries as well.  I don't remember seeing this before today but I'm not going to swear to it, (although today it happened so often, I can't work).

Shut down X2 and start again, no joy.  Reboot windows, no help.  I spent the entire afternoon just getting a drum track rendered after which, I deleted Superior, (thinking it might be the culprit).  No dice!  I'm also going to post over at the Toontrack forums in case someone over there might be able to help.

Thinking it might be a windows problem, I opened other programs but they all seem to work fine.  Other projects in X2 had the same problem so it's not necessarily a project issue.  I tried to open X1 and 8.5 but apparently my plugins have changed enough, (64 bit install), that they would not open so I couldn't check that.

I'm sure there is a solution but I felt I should ask the big boys here before I started making changes.  Anyone seen this?  All suggestions are welcome and much appreciated.

TIA

Paul

Hi Paul, Here's a list of things to try whenever you're having weird things going on.

1. Defrag the main drive.
2. Check for viruses, worms, etc.
3. Restore the system to an earlier date if you can pinpoint when things started going wrong.
4. Reinstall Sonar.

Hey, thanks Soens.  Interesting thing is that when I went back to my music drive the next day everything worked as normal.  I still have no idea what caused it but I'm sure glad it's gone.

I do need to check that drive for fragmentation though.
