Hello,
I have successfully used SONAR X1 for several years (and previous incarnations before that).  I do a great deal of orchestration using Finale 2014.  The newest version required me to change the sample rate on my sound card to 44.1 from 48.  I have always been able to have both programs open simultaneously so that I can switch back and forth during takedowns of recorded music. I'm now having endless problems with X1, it often can't find the sound card and also shows all imported audio as 'busy'.  No playback at all.  Any help would be appreciated.

Have you set your project sample rate to 48KHz as well?

I now have the default rate set at 44.1K, but even after closing and re-opening the program, it often says it can't even find the sound card.  Upon opening the program it says "there are no audio devices for the current driver model on your system" I'm using and Edirol UA-25, never had this problem before

You might need to set the default for the sound card to be 44.1

The newest version required me to change the sample rate on my sound card to 44.1 from 48.

so that means that every project that was recorded at the other sample rate must be converted to the new sample rate or it will not play and you will have sound card problems. Changing the sample rate of your projects that where recorded at another sample rate is very cumbersome. You might need to solve your issue with the other program that makes you use the new sample rate. Any program worth its salt, can run at 48KhZ 44.1 and 96kHz.

Samples rates cannot be changed on a whim.

About your wave files being busy, just delete your Pic Cache.

Agreed, and I found it difficult to believe that a program would support only 44.1kHz. But from the Finale Support Site:

"Finale 2014 is only compatible with speakers and soundcards that support 16-bit/44.1k. Some devices, such as many Bose speakers, only support a sample rate of 48k. If possible, try to select 44.1 for your device (not all devices will allow this)."

I know, it's a BLOODY nuisance.  I have been using SONAR for 8 years, I have hundreds of projects, everything from single audio files used for takedowns to complete MIDI projects for use as demos on full orchestral scores.  Everything is set at 48k.  I think I'm going to have to go back to Finale 2012 as it was not a problem then.

had same error "there are no audio devices...''
In Sonar under Preferences/Audio/Playback and recording,  checked 'share drivers with other programs'.
And in Windows check to just have 1 soundcard for playback/recording helped.
Also had no sound sometimes when I had both Sonar and Internet open.

good luck
