  • Command to undo a MIDI fade-out?

I have a few MIDI sequences that fades out gradually, and I'd like to undo it in bulk as opposed to dealing with a ton of individual notes.

The event inspector can set the velocity of selected notes.

Look at the fade in the event viewer, it's probably an expression controller. Once you know what it is, select the midi track(s) then from the Clips menu, select 'Convert MIDI Controllers to Envelopes'. Once you've done that you can go through and delete the envelopes you don't want.

Is it velocity change or controller (it might be CC7 or CC11)?

OK I am looking at the Event List, and the only non-notes I see are the occasional "Hold" commands throughout the tune. The fade starts around measure 100.

I found the "Convert Midi to envelopes" command, and I looked down the list, and I wasn't sure what would happen if I said "OK" so I didn't bother doing it. I guess I need to know what happens to the track and what exactly I'm looking for.

When doing something new consider working on a copy of the project and remember CTRL-Z can undo many operations.

In the event list there is an unmarked column which seems to be velocity as the numbers decrease for notes late in the list. I /could/ edit that I suppose, but what a PITA.

I converted the midi clips to envelopes, but I don't know what I'm looking for. I saw one called Volume (PART 3) but how do I know where Part 3 begins or if that's even the right command?

Yes, editing notes one at a time is not fun. That is why I would use the Event Inspector to change all the selected notes at once. Maybe this video will help http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/video.asp?ID=7

That video was very cool but did not address my issue. It's a very gradual fade. I could use the Event Inspector to make 'em all the same velocity value, but that won't help. Yes it'll eliminate the fade, but it won't be musical. OR I could select notes, use the modifier and bump them up relative to each other, but the problem is, I'll have to track the fade, and do that for each decrement in velocity.

How would one put IN a MIDI fade? Then I could reverse it? I think it has something to do with the envelopes thingie but I'm just not sure what I'm looking for, what command is performing that act.
