Hi folks
I'm on the verge of upgrading to X3 Producer but as I haven't had chance to play much with X2 since I've had it (unforseen personal circumstances) I'm not exactly that familiar with that either.

So as there's a good deal on until Sunday of this week, I've decided to upgrade to X3 for the ridiculous price of £59! I'd like also to purchase some tutorial videos and/or books so I can really learn this software as comprehensively as I can.

Any recommendations guys?

Thanks
YC

You can't go wrong with the Sonar power books by Scott Garrigus. Frankly, if something's not included in that book, it's not worth knowing

Video wise, I had the SWA videos for X2 which were pretty handy

I got a $99/year subscription at Groove3 and am really pleased with it/them. In addition to Sonar and Melodyne, they seem to have almost everything else I own. Cake TV is really good, too, and that's free.

I also buy Scott's Sonar Power book, every time I upgrade. I don't see how anyone could not buy it!

In addition to the great videos/tutorials/books out there (free and for purchase), you can also find a lot of resolutions to things that confuse you here in the forums.

To search the Cakewalk site, I suggest using Google, using the following, followed by whatever you are trying to search for:

site:forum.cakewalk.com

example: site:forum.cakewalk.com x3 power book

example: site:forum.cakewalk.com export audio mp3

example: site:forum.cakewalk.com complete removal sonar registry

You get the idea.  If you want to narrow results, add additional terms, to narrow it down, like including X3 to limit the search by release, etc...

Anyways, the forums are a great research tool, in addition to tutorials and videos that are out there.  It all helps, as does digging in and going for it.

Lastly, if you drop the 'forum' from the search terms, and use site:cakewalk.com, (and your terms), it will search forums as well as the Sonar documentation itself, which may give you helpful results, as well.

Thank you for that one, Bob! I had no computer background when I got one and bought ProAudio 9, then immediately went to Sonar PE. After 3PE, I got/felt very confident of 5.2PE. Due to "life circumstances", I wasn't able to upgrade till X and that was just as X2 came out, so I jumped. Now I am still doing a lot of googling to catch up with X3e PE, and I realized (with your suggestions) that I still don't have the PC/internet background. I tried your searching tip and am impressed with how easy it is to directly get to what I am looking for! That really zero's in on a subject.

I'll be using that one from now on! Thanks again.
