Hello Alex. I am still not following you. You are suggesting that if I would have re-installed X3 after uninstalling X1 I would have gotten V-vocal back?

I'll paste in what I said in the other thread...

You just run X1 setup and just select vvocal if you have X3 already installed (no need to install X1), check it's in the vst file path then rescan. That's all you need to do.

If you have installed X1 in full after you installed X3 you stand to lose just the file associations if you just went ahead with the default. If I did that myself personally I would install X3 again as a precaution in case any newer reg entries or plugin files got overwritten....
... Correction I would uninstall both and do it like I initially suggested.. There may be no need to do this but I'm a cautious fellow.

My current advise (as you have now installed X1) is optional , there may be no need to take it if you aren't running into further issues. Cakewalk would have done a lot to separate X1 from X3 so they don't conflict when installing backwards but I'm not sure they would have tested for that scenario.

Cheers :).

Thank you Alex. Both problems are solved. Getting V-vocal back was solved by re-installing X1 (though as you mentioned, I only needed to run the set-up), and getting my file associations are back by running the set-up only and X3e for X3 (as the default is the latest installation so now it points to X3 instead of X1.)

Here is Cj's advice to get V-vocal back:
You do not need to RE-INSTALL X1 to get X3 working again. Just re-install X3 again and those files will not be associated with X1. This is all written ion the read me' files your suppose to read before installing. You do not need X1 to have X3 working. Your running 50 miles, when you just need to walk 10 feet.
So are you suggesting that CJ's advice is sound, and that I could have gotten V-vocal back just by reinstalling X3?
Thank you for the help.

It's already been covered... What he said was you didn't need to install X1 which was true. I don't see any need to rehash what was already written on the other thread what was stated was perfectly clear in that context. Anyway I'm glad it's now working. Cheers.

FWIW, I don't think Vvocal can be installed separately, but only as part of the main application.  That's why I chimed in on the other thread - X1 itself does have to be installed in order to get Vvocal.   Or am I not remembering this correctly...   (wouldn't be the first time)

I remember it via the custom install option. If I am talking out of my behind I'm happy to be called out.

At least with the X series, V-Vocal is not a separately installable plug-in. The plug-in can only be installed with the basic option or by installing SONAR (the program at the top of the pick list) from the advanced option. If there is a way to get the installer to install V-Vocal only, I would like to know how.
