Hi all
I'm doing a tute for Albion 1 and the guy is using pro tools. In PT he is showing how to 'capture a recording' via a keyboard shortcut, instead of recording it. He just plays a line and then hits a keyboard shortcut and it appears as a recorded piece.
I don't see this option in Sonar and I'm wondering if it has a similar function but goes by another name?

Thanks

Can you post the link for the tutorial where this is taking place?  I do not quite understand what you are trying to do, and watching it may help me to help you.

Thanks,

If a track is armed for recording in Sonar, typing R initiates recording. Does that help?

Hi Bob

Anderton, thanks I do that one quite regularly and it's not related in this instance.

That could be "retrospective record". If its MIDI some DAWs will hold all incoming MIDI in a buffer and if one decides to keep it a simple key stroke will record it.. Cubase has that.

I put in a feature request for it a very long time ago.

A useful feature if you frequently forget to hit record prior to recording. Is that a common mistake?

I think I'd be a bit embarrassed if I said"go" to the vocalist without running the transport

But I can see it's usefullness if if you're just goofing around on a keyboard and come up with something good!

I have that feature for my guitar - a Gibson Memory Cable

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I've definitely had sessions running were all the lights were blinking red rather than solid (solid meant record). One of the guys asks me after the first or second tune and I'm like, oh right... :-)

It does happen.

It's a good reason for the big monitor that the band can see too so that they know if you've spaced something important.

I usually do that at least once a session doing overdubs. :)
