Let me get this straight - when using bounce to clips - FX, either in the ProChannel or FX Bin, are not applied.  If you are using FX in the clips, then maybe, but otherwise they are not.

This is correct. To apply FX to a clip, you need to select the clip and go Process > Apply Effect > Audio Effects.
Clip automation will be applied to the clip when you bounce, but track automation will not.

Note that if a clip is in a Take Lane that's muted, bouncing the Clip will result in a clip with no amplitude. However this is not the case with Mute on the Track level.

Yes I have some effects in the PC. But I had thought that only the automation (if any) would be applied to the new clip.

Nope. FXs are applied. It's a hassle but I usually move my clip to be melodyned to a virgin track. Edit. Bounce. Move back to orig tack.

FYI: I usually do this in the tracking-pre-mix stage as I will not yet have clip automation applied. I need the automaton before melodyne the I turn off all FXs (bin and chain and PC), bounce and then do the above process.

We are specifically talking about a bounced Melodyne track/clip. Not just a general bounce to clip.

Okay..

Specifically - using  Bounce To Clip(s)  on a Melodyne clip -  FX, either in the ProChannel or FX Bin, are not applied.

Using Bounce To Tracks  will include FX, if specified.

Do you maybe have some mono/stereo/pan law thing going on?

I export  tracks to be pitch corrected  out to a  standalone version of Melodyne  so don't use Melodyne within Sonar, but I do recall things being louder when imported back into Sonar from Melodyne.

From what I recall it was something to do with exporting a mono (say vocal) track out but not setting the export option to 'mono'. The track would come back in 3db louder than when it went out. I can't quite remember offhand the ins and outs of it all, but it was something to do with mono/stereo.

Not true in my case. They seem to apply. At least to the point that the clip is louder after a bounce (of a melodyne) to clip. When I turn the FX off it does not happen.

Maybe it's my specific FXs but I can say that it happens all the time and I use different FXs from project to project and track to track.

Perhaps it's an ARA-specific quirk?

I'm using Editor 2 in X2, (and I do copy the clip to be edited into a virgin track), and I sometimes get this problem.  I haven't been able to specifically identify the problem.  I do know that Melodyne doesn't like to be bounced from a stereo track if the source is mono.  I must change the interleave to 'mono' before I place Melpodyne into the FX bin.
