I recently purchased EWQL software and I love the sounds. Unfortunately my computer is not powerful enough to be able to use the "Freeze Synth" option with this very CPU intense software. It plays well in real time but trying to use the freeze synth option results in missed notes, popping, and cracking. The same result applies when I try to bounce to a track.

Way back in the day, before there was a "Freeze Synth" option available, I remember we used to record the synths in real time but I can't for the life of me remember how we did it. I'm fairly sure I didn't have to run any actual audio lines or cords. I'm thinking we just added a third audio track and selected the appropriate input while using the track to records the synth in real time.

Can anyone else remember how we used to do this?

And yes.... I will be purchasing a newer, more powerful computer very soon but I'd like to finish this project now while things are still fresh in my mind.

Thanks,
Pete

Using the Tracks > Bounce to Tracks option, you can bounce the synth tracks in real time to a new track. Then, archive the synth tracks used for the bounce by clicking on the tracks' A button to disconnect them from the CPU.

Thanks Anderton,
As I mentioned in my original post, the "bounce to track" option results in the same problems as the freeze synth option. However you mentioned that I could bounce the synth track in "real time" to a new track. How do you do this in real time? I know how to bounce to track but not in real time...how do I do it in "real time"? This would be my only work-around if I could do it in real time.

Thanks,
Pete

OK, I've figured this out. There are two Freeze Synth options. One is "Fast Bounce" and one is "Audible Bounce". I selected Audible Bounce and it froze the synth in real time and the result is beautiful.
