If it helps, I have both Alesis Studio Ones (passive) and Rokit 6s (powered).  When I switched over the the Rokits, I did not notice major change in my mixes, which made me feel that both were in the correct ballpark.

After I finish my current project, I am going to buy a larger mixing desk and rearrange things.  When I do, I'd like to have both the Alesis and KRKs available.

I have a pair of Rokit 5's that I've been using forever but they're a bit lacking in midrange detail. These days I use my HS7's for just about everything and now use the Rokit 5's for a sanity check. I want to get a pair of MixCubes eventually as a 3rd opinion.
If I could have only one pair of monitors at that price point, I'd probably get the Yamahas.

Ok folks, I already picked the KRK VXT 8s. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well, one thing's for sure: If you don't like them, you'll have no trouble unloading them for the same price as what you paid. And yes...the Rockits and VXTs are very different animals, hence the price difference.

They sell for $599 each new, even on eBay! So yeah, I could flip them for a profit, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be very happy with them especially coming from using the Alesis M1 Active 620s. These should be quite the upgrade.

Got them today!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the fact that commercially released music sounds great on them and my own mixes sound dull, unbalanced and pathetic, then they're awesome!!! Lol! They are huge! The pic is squashed and doesn't really convey their size.

You nailed it. Now go make your mixes sound like the commercially released music...but of course, without squashing the living crap out of them, and thinking that 10% distortion is okay

Ha!!!!! I just wanted monitors that would destroy the little self-esteem I had left. The pic is up now. Link didn't work before.
