I didn't want to hijack an other tread so I'll start a new that wonders about the logic behind some new ( to me ) behavior in X3.

First I want to compare the snap to gird method used in X3 to Sonar 4.0.2 and ask if someone can explain the new logic behind removing the absolute independence between different windows, that used to exist in 4.0.2.?

For those of you that don't know, any and all windows in 4.0.2 have independent snap settings and will always remember the snap settings that are assigned to them. So, one can have track view set to snap to Measures ( move to or by )
and one can have multiple PRV windows open and have different snap settings assigned to them also,
and none of them mess with the snap settings of any of the other open windows.
The same goes for grid settings in PRV. All windows are independent.
Now to me, this seems to be absolutely elegant and perfect so can some one explain the logic behind how X3 now deals with snap settings and grid settings?
There must be something I'm missing and not understanding?

Thank you!

X3 does have per view snap settings.  I don't know if this is a fact but you could try locking the PRVs so they have independent snaps. Sonar 4 did not have locking as far as I can recall.

Yes. Sonar 4 does have lockable PRV and consequently multiple PRV with different contents and snap settings.
I still use it.

X3:
After some fiddling around ...
What was tricking me is "Smart Grid" changing with the view width in Track view and not remembering I want it to be to Measures.
I think I have it under control now.

Yes. Locking PRV in X3 results in independent snap.

Thanks!

I'm glad things are working for you the way you want.

Me too. It's a bit of a learning curve / jump from S4 but it's getting better the more I work with it.
