I have a song with about 8 sections with different tempos in each section.  Is there a way to add measures to - say section 2 of 8 without having to change the tempo of all the other sections.  I did try sliding the last 6 sections to the right and then adding what I wanted to section two - but when I do this - while the audio files slide - the tempo changes remain at the measure they were originally inserted.  I know I can change them all manually - but this is a tedious process (especially if I continually change ing them longer or shorter.sections making them longer or shorter.  Is there an easier way?  Using producer 8.5 and most of the tracks are audio tracks.

Far as I know tempo is for MIDI and does not change audio. 
 
In other words
 
You have a midi drum track and a tempo of 120 BPM
You record audio to match tempo
If you change the BPM to 115 the MIDI changes but the audio stays at 120 BPM and you have giant mess...
You then have to do weird things like audio stretch/ shrink which destroys your audio quality. 

Tempo changes seem to be affecting my audio clips.  It seemed to me that when I changed the tempo from what was originally recorded - the key of that section changed slightly.  I'll have to go back and recheck - but it seems tempo changes do affect the audio. Which makes me have to manually change the tempos whenever I do a slide.   I am not using any midi tracks in this piece.
 

?? If your not using any MIDI then you don't need to change the tempo setting. It is for MIDI not audio. 
As I said if you need to slow down an audio track you use time stretch, not tempo.

Yes, they do affect audio clips as well. That's why I always lay down the basic MIDI parts (e.g. bass and drums) first and make sure I'm happy with all the tempo changes before starting with audio tracks. And you're right - tempo changes don't move with the audio. Inconvenient as that is, it makes sense technically because tempo is global to the entire project and you're only moving a subset of the project.
 
If you want to add some measures to a song, there is a way to do that. The Insert Measures tool will insert a blank portion and move the tempo map (as well as automation and markers) correctly. You can then drag or paste audio files into the newly-created silent section.

Thanks all... Hmmmmm insert measures tool.  I'll have to look for that - didn't pop out at me.  I went to the Insert menu and don't remember seeing anything that said measures
 

With the X series, the Insert Measures tool was moved from the Insert menu to Project -> Insert Time/Measures, but the dialog and options are the same in X1-2-3 as they were in 8.5 and earlier.
 
First make sure no timeline section is selected. Then select all tracks with SHIFT+CTL-A, set the Now marker to where you want to insert silence, and make sure all the options are ticked before clicking OK.

Inserting measures went fine - thanks - don't know why I missed that the first time.  Now what happens if I want to delete measures from a section.  Is there a way to do that and have the tempo changes remain in the proper place?

I dunno. I've never actually deleted anything from a song!
