Hi there,

Only on midi tracks ( not audio )
the color changing bar at the far left of the track won't stay open long enough to select a color.

As you know, it opens on the release of the mouse button, not the initial down of the mouse button,
but in my situation it closes right away, not leaving enough time to select a color.
Using the inspector to change the color works but that's an extra bunch of work I'd rather not have to do.

Audio tracks are fine and work as expected.

Any thoughts about how to fix this without reinstalling X3 would be appreciated.

Thanks!

i just tried this on a MIDI track. The color bar opened on the initial down click, not on the release, and stayed open until I chose a color. The same thing happened with a touchpad. That's the way it's supposed to work...not sure why yours doesn't work that way. Two questions:

1. If you open a new project, does this still happen?
2. Are you using a gaming mouse? Try a plain vanilla one and see what happens.

Yes. All projects. New or old. I tried every possible variation of new that I could think of and also resizing the track height and the width of the track view.

No gaming mouse. Very generic PS2 touch pad but I was using the left click button of the touch pad, not tapping the pad.

I think the real 'tell' here is that audio tracks aren't showing the same problem.

What happens if you use a conventional mouse? Not that there should be timing differences between MIDI and audio tracks...

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'll try a traditional mouse when I get back home later tonight and let you know.

Thanks. Am I being paranoid, or is there a correlation between a proliferation of weird "corner cases" and Windows automatic updates...

I don't know you well enough to comment.  I do know that I have my Windows 8.1.1 Pro 64 bit set to not automatically update, I do it manually. I am notified but I decide what I will allow to be updated. My system is up to date.

Update:

Tested with a generic USB mouse. Same exact results.
Menu opens on mouse release, not on the down, and closes very rapidly.

Windows Automatic Updates are always off here and I NEVER install optional updates.

Bump:

Is it worth calling Cakewalk on this?
