• SONAR
  • CA-2A Installed - but where is it?

The install went smooth as silk, but no VST and no PC version of the new CA-2A.

It even negated the PC2A Leveler - the project I have was using it, and now says cannot find...

Went into PC and tried to replace, but as I said, no CA-2A to be found...

What am I missing here?
(Other than the new CA-2A?)

Thanks,
MG

Have you run a VST scan?

Update - Found the folder, moved it to my scanned VST folder, and it looks like it's all working...

Shouldn't the install ask where your VST's are?

...jus' sayin'.

Thanks,

John T,
Thank you for your response.

Yes, I had run several scans after the install, but as you can see from my update, the folder Cake uses on install wasn't my "Global" VST folder.

The thing that threw me was that after the install the PC2A Leveler in ProChannel quit working in a project I called up.

That should have been an indication that the install went well, and the new CA-2A took it's place.

But when I went to ProChannel for the missing PC2A, to replace it with the new CA-2A, the new one was not in the list...

Strange.
The install worked, but didn't work. Sort of.

It looks like your helpful post came in about the time I was posting the update after having gone to look where Cake installed the new CA-2A.

Risking the chance that I look like an idiot for not figuring this out, I'm leaving the post up for anyone else having this issue.

If, like me, your "Global" VST folder is used for every VST plugin:
  • The CA-2A install does not ask where you want your VST version (and supporting ProChannel files) installed - only if you want the 32 or 64 bit version.
  • Cakewalk installs all the necessary files in:
    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\CA2A Leveling Amplifier
  • Grab the entire folder (not just the DLL file) and copy it to your VST folder.
(The folder contains necessary support files needed for the ProChannel version.)
Happy Mixing,

MG

Digging this up as I had the exact same problem with the CA-2A.

The VST 3 version showed up with the larger UI but no Pro channel version. Searched the same location as my Sonar Producer installation and there it was. Copied it over to my VST folder and the ProChannel version now shows up. Thanks for the tips!
