  • How to not show measure lines in PRV?

I'm working on a project that needs to follow a VO in a rhythmic fashion (like poetry) that is very close to the project tempo.
The measure lines are messing with me...how can I NOT display them?
Thanks very much,
Randy

In Track View, here's what you do for audio clips:  View > Display > Vertical Grid Lines > check None.

I don't think there's an equivalent function for MIDI. You can hide only the higher-resolution grid lines, not the measures.

You can customize the color of measure lines in Preferences. Apply the defaut beat line color to measure lines.

Tak - Maybe I didn't understand what you were saying, but I couldn't find a "Measure Lines" category; applying the default beat line color to Major Rules didn't seem to get rid of the measure lines, if that's what you meant. However if I changed the "Major Rules" color to white, although that doesn't totally get rid of the measure lines because the PRV still has the alternative light gray and white horizontal stripes for the black and white keys, the measure lines become pretty much invisible. So I think that would accomplish what the OP wants and maybe that's what you were describing?

On a related topic, I appreciate your giving me a heads-up about the color preference for measure lines because unlike the OP, I've always wanted to emphasize them more. So I made them magenta, and now I can really see those suckers! Thanks. I also found that changing the time ruler numbers color to yellow isn't as aesthetic, but they're a lot more readable.

If you don't need to ever display any measure lines in this project, then you could set the tempo to some very small arbitrary value, resulting in fewer lines spread wide apart.

I wasn't at the daw when I posted earlier so I said "measure lines" but the category I was talking about is actually "Major Rules." And IF what Randy wants to do is to have only beat lines (Beat Rules) and grid lines (Grid Rules) appear in the PRV (there's a high chance I misunderstand the original post), it is possible by making measure lines (Major Rules) look as if they disappeared by applying the color of Beat Rules to Major Rules.

Here's the result:

Instead of hiding the lines you could use the "set measure/beat to now" feature and place the measure lines at a place that matches up with the transients on the VO you are working with.

Just a thought.

Had I known it was going to be an issue this might be a solution (or at least help) but at this point it would alter the tempo of the parts I've already written and would no longer match the VO.
The thing is guys, I don't really need ANY vertical lines (although I'll see if Tak's suggestion will help) for a project like this because the VO is dictating the tempo.
This particular project is kind of a guided meditation thing (but dealing with Qigong movements).
The following link is a similar project I did for the client...it'll give you a better idea as to why I don't want any vertical lines while writing in PRV.

How about this?

There are ABSOLUTELY no vertical lines in the PRV Notes pane!
(Well....the horizontal lines are gone, too. )

Hahahaha...by god there ain't no vertical lines showing there Tak!
It would be nice to be able to see the horizontal lines but what exactly did you do in prefs to get this?
Thanks very much,
Randy
