Under the 'Piano Roll View' category, there's Window Background. Give this option and Major/Beat/Grid Rules black color. The only lines you'll see are the aim assist lines (the thin vertical line and the fat, blue horizontal line).

The thing is guys, I don't really need ANY vertical lines (although I'll see if Tak's suggestion will help) for a project like this because the VO is dictating the tempo.

I think you'll find that if you make the Major Rules white they are essentially invisible.

Thanks very much guys, I'll try some of these suggestions later today.
Thanks again,
Randy

You can insert a meter change of 99 beats per measure with a beat value of 1 (with the Project Menu). So if you disable Show Vertical Grid Lines in the PRV you'll only see one measure bar for every 99 measures.

That's even a better workaround...thanks guys!

...with a beat value of 1...

The minimum that you can set is 8 bpm.  I didn't discover this until after I posted my suggestion about setting a low value.

I checked those settings in Sonar X3 before posting and had no trouble inserting a meter change with a beat value of 1. It's even in the drop-down menu. Also, 8 bpm is a tempo not a meter setting.

My mistake.  I was was thinking about tempo rather than beat value.

I can't speak for anyone else but on a personal note, you're very welcome and I hope you found something useful in this thread. I would also like to add that if you use the method I suggested, it won't have any effect on note placement, tempo, quantization, or the snap-to/by settings, and you can always make the PRV grid visible if you want to make a section fit into a steady beat.
