Hello all,

My name's Mike and I just installed the Sonar X3 Studio software using it with a Roland Tri-capture audio interface.  I'm running it all through my laptop which runs on the 64-bit version of Windows 7.   Everything seems to have installed correctly.  I first tried using the tri-capture as the output device for sound, checked all sound levels on the x3 software, the levels and mute buttons on the tri-capture and still had no sound.  So I next hooked up two output speakers to the tri-capture and enabled those as well.  Still had no sound coming through anything.  The only instrument I am hooking up to the tri-capture is a guitar with a single patch cord.  Please tell me there is a simple solution that I am overlooking.  And yes, I've gone over the manuals numerous times already. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

How have you set the track ins and outs? You don't mention having an audio track in use at all.
So, to clarify, you have your Tri-Capture selected as both playback and recording timing master, and the Tri-Capture drivers (preferably ASIO) are in use?

You're a quick reader  :o) :o) if you've gone through the 1800 page manual several times alrerady. Have you done the tutorials? BTW, this forum is actually for versions 8.5 and older, the X-version forum is above this one.

Sorry, I meant I've been reading the booklets that came with the Sonar and Roland packages :)  My ins are set to the same as my outs.  Is this wrong?  I keep checking for the ASIO term that is described but can't seem to find it anywhere.  I also set the mode rate on the Tri-capture to 44k as to not have any recording and playback issues.  When I plug my guitar into the Tri-capture everything lights up, but I just don't get sound from anywhere.  And there is also no sound when I run the Ttime sample tune.

Start by verifying that Windows sees the interface. Go to the Sounds and Audio Devices control panel applet, Audio tab and make sure the interface shows up in the dropdown list. If it isn't there, then there's a problem with the driver installation (audio drivers depend on the Windows Audio service, so make sure that's running). If it is there, choose it as the default audio device and try to play some audio using Windows Media Player.

If you can play a CD or MP3 through WMP, then SONAR should also be able to see the driver.

Well, the Tri-capture is definitely recognized by windows and is set as the default audio device when plugged in.  I'll keep working at it.  Thanks for the advice.

ASIO drivers for TRi-Capture should be found at Rolands site, I guess.
The track ins cannot be the same as track outs, obviously. An input can not lead the signal out.
You propably mean the input/output drivers in "Preferences", which both are Tri-Capture.
The input should be something like " tri-capture 1 left"
and the output should be Master Bus or Main Outs.
