I don't get it. This should work out of the box, shouldn't it? At least with the mixer? I haven't changed anything to any behaviour of the pots. It seems like the hardware and Automap totally disagree on something. They should be controlling the Send levels on the tracks in the mixer. And whatever else on different VSTs

I tried set one of them up the same way as the ones on the second row of rotaries but it didn't work at all. I've tried every seting I can imagine but nothing.

Yes the mixer should work out of the box.

1) what version of automap are you running?
2) did you select "Mixer" from the Zero? (last button on the bottom should be lit)
3) is automap running? there should be an icon in your tray with an A on it.
4) do you have the controller properly configured in Sonar?  (this is the only thing automap 4 does better IMO.  it will walk you through the setup in sonar or live)

In Ableton you control the mixer with a template not with automap.  the template is already assigned.  it is template 40 on the remote sl keyboards but something different on the zero.

Hey Jackel!

I rellay appreciate your knowledge about this device and willingness to help me out

-I'm running Automap 4.2 (I think it was - it's the latest one)

-Mixer was selected - but problem occurs when trying to control FX and instruments as well.

-Automap is running - Icon is there and when hiting the view button it pops ut. All parameters are in the display as well, they respond to touch and I can even reassign them. Just when I try to move the encoders there's no change in value on the encoder rings nor in the software

-I am pretty sure that it's properly configured - but I'm thinking that there's something here that is the problem. But it's a pretty fool proof setup process and even though I'm not a genious I'm pretty sure I manage to follow the instructions. The funny thing is that it's the same problem in Sonar, Live and Reason.

I know there's a template controlling Live and it's working fine. Even the encoders work like a charm there! Except when I'm trying to control an Automapped plugin inside Live, then they stop working. That's why I'm really confused about this. The hardware seem to be working nicely but not some link between the encoders and Automap, as if they are locked to the value in the software. But I can't figure out what it is.

I've tried contacting Novation tech support and I'm awaiting a reply. I've also posted in the Novation forum (saw your post there too) but that's quiet like a grave and VERY tedious to post in

I'm thinking of trying it on a different computer with Sonar and Live loaded and see if it works there.

Hey Ya'll

Great news (for me anyway), I plugged the Zero into my lap top and installed Automap and configured it with Sonar and Live on it. Same problem occurred but I tried to do the reloading of Template, OS, everything that can be reset on the controller and I'll be darned - the rotaries started behaving normally. They worked! Brought it over to my main DAW, plugged it in and it worked! Great!

So now the hardware is up and running - I just have to figure out a smooth way to get all my plugins in excisting project to be automaped. It wasn't as easy as one, two, three

But THANK YOU SO MUCH for chiming in here!! I really appreciate all your help and advice. I sincerely hope I can offer you some help and advice in the near future.

Cheers!

Glad you got it working.

I was really baffled there, as the basic functionality should have been easy.

Yeah, me too. They kind of advertise the ease of use and simplicity a lot

It seems like my DAW was unable to send the OS and template update to the controller for some reason since the same happened on my laptop until I updated templates and OS - which I had tried at least a dozen times on my DAW. Well I never understand these things. But as long as it works I don't care.

Now I just have to set it up and see if I like it

Thanks for all your help!

Man you had me stumped.  I was about to offer to setup a goto meeting with you.

He he thanks for that. Yeah I was surprised how difficult this thing turned out to be when everyone said it's as easy as anything to use it. Well, I've been playing with it tonight and I'm liking it so far. I'm glad it got sorted out. I'd already decided to return it to the shop on Friday. Guess I'll be tweaking sounds in stead;)

Just doing a search here and can't seem to find anything..thought I'd maybe ask in this thread. Sonar. Automap. Busses. Doesn't seem possible? I can't find any way to control the busses with my Zero SL MKII. Seems it wouldn't be a problem in something like Protools where you have all the busses/sends just as tracks whereever you want them, but the seperate bus section of Sonar seems impossible to access??

Hey there!

I forgot to jump in here. But the answer is yes. When you're in Automap Mixer mode, just go to the right with the pages buttons and you'll get to the buses and mains. Now, I've only tried this with blank projects or new projects with few tracks. I've noticed that when opening old projects - currently i dabble in +/-100 tracks, it looses some of the control over the tracks when it  passes track 45 or something. Never checked if it would grab the buses there. But it can, I know that

What I still haven't figured out with this thing is how to have it control Pro Channel (using ACT?) in an effective way. I seem to have to re-map all the ACT setings every time I restart Sonar...
