It should be a DVD +/- to handle both so without looking at spec sheets I think the best thing to do might be to replace one of the drives with a hybrid from ebay. Or just buy both sets of discs. Spec sheet should confirm it though.
Nice one Bob good info.
That was my understanding too and I thought I had bought a +/- burner (and I very well may have but it's just not printed on the front). Doesn't matter... I'll get it sorted.
On topic though... I have been creating the God Mode folder for a few years now (and I believe I've posted it here a couple times). It is indeed very cool to have BUT it's usefulness is somewhat limited by the fact it is such an ENORMOUS list of options that many times it is just easier to go through the start menu/control panel/search as usual for most things. There are a few specific tasks I do semi regularly as far as computer fiddling and I know exactly how to bounce to those quickly these days via the Start menu so hunting through the GodMode list actually takes more time.
That said what it is REALLY useful for is simply exploring Windows and what can be done. As was mentioned a lot of the features listed in GM are buried or not available at all through regular means so it's cool to poke around and see what's what or if, and perhaps I'm the only one who is dumb enough to have this problem, you are following directions from the net to get at a setting but they aren't leading you to where you want to go you can just look for it on that list.
To be honest though I rarely use it and since I wiped this system clean and did a fresh install (my laptop) I haven't bothered inserting it again.
One thing that is probably only a concern in my paranoid mind is if somehow someone got remote control access of the system have the GodMode folder might make it easier to do some damage because all the options are right there. That of course is highly unlikely (if not outright impossible) but the thought has crossed my mind. I'm sure teh haxxors have other ways to get at that stuff anyway though which likely involves command prompt mayhem instead of through the GUI.
BTW... this has all been with Win7 which I have been using for years. I'm glad to hear that Win8 has GodMode as well because I absolutely HATE those first few months of a new OS where you simply cannot find ANYTHING. MS is terrible for that crap and it sounds like Win8 is one of the worst offenders in this regard.
Good tips, Bob. I'll definitely make use of the Reliability Monitor now that I know more about what it actually does.
Cheers.
