  • [Solved] Dimension Pro Library Move 8.1

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 by refreshing i.e. just leaving my data. On reinstalling Dimension Pro 1.5 I cannot get it to display the contents of my "Multisamples" folder which is on another drive and has more than just the basic sounds. I've done the Registry Edit to modify where the "Multisamples" folder is. The content, after a F5 Dimension Pro refresh, just leaves the basic content showing, again. I know it can see the "Multisamples" because when I move/hide them the sounds can't load up. It just the extra content that I've added since the basic installation will not show in the contents.

There must be another step I'm missing. Can anyone help, please?

The refresh option (F5 in the browser) rebuilds "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs\programs.lst" based on the programs in "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs".

It sounds like a fresh DimPro install was performed with a change made to the registry to point to an old Multisample directory which contains addon libraries. This won't work because the addon programs are no longer installed in "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs".

I do declare that you are a genius. Yes that is the solution. The original progs were on the c drive which has been "refreshed". I have the old program data backup. Restoring that into the Program folder has solved it.

Thank you.

As ever the people on this forum are fantastic at coming up with the solutions.

What few people know is that several years ago, the International Space Station had an intractable software problem that was shutting down all life support systems. The crew had literally only a few hours to live, but someone at NASA had apparently used Sonar and was aware of this forum. As a last-ditch effort, NASA sent scook a PM asking for his help. A few minutes later, he figured out how to disable the life support override sub-system, which returned it to manual control. Once under manual control, he directed them how to reboot the sub-system, and he then created an AutoHotKey combination to disable and re-enable as needed.

So for him, moving a Dimension Pro directory is nothing.
