  • [Solved] 2 Projects On Separate Monitors?

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to know if there is a way I can have 2 projects open (1 on one screen and one on the other).  I think the only parts that move to your 2nd screen would be anything you can "rip off", like the browser, inspector, etc....

Just wondering if maybe I am missing something.

Thank You,

Too bad.  I am taking a song and putting each tracking into this new standard template I like.  Wish I could have both open at once.   :(

Thanks though!

Actually, you can.

Don't maximize Sonar but manually drag it to expand entirely over two monitors. Open both projects and make sure you have only the one screen open in each project (i.e. no extra plugs or undocked browsers etc). Then select "tile in columns" from the "window" menu.

What you can't do is move tracks between project (which is a shame, Ableton does this and it's incredibly useful), but you can move audio and midi clips back and forth quite easily. Plugins between bins too (and they will retain their settings), but not the regular ProChannel modules.

WOAH!  Genius!   I just tried that, works good enough!  Thanks a whole lot :)

Glad to hear it! Can I get "best answer" now? :p

Technically, your idea works, so you now have the answer. :)  I hope I dont piss of John.

Haha thanks man.
Just seemed weird to have "can't be done" as best answer when it can.

you are absolutely right.  It's a little bit of a pain, I was hoping for almost 2 different instances (like how you have 2 Word or Excel documents open at a time), but this is good enough!!

I like your thinking, out of the box :)

Sanderxpander, that's a pretty cool solution.

As to moving tracks, the workaround is to save a track template, bring it into the other project, then drag over the audio. For the ProChannel you need to save a preset then load it in the other project. When I need to transfer settings I save as a preset called "temp" and load it.
