  • Will we have to buy the next version to get rid of the disapearing NOW LINE bug? (p.3)

Sir Les
Yes Alex, so does  ATI, But the ATI uninstaller did not see "MS ATI driver" when I clicked on "uninstall option" for that driver...Why?...not sure about that ...With my Problem...MS WIN 7 updater put the wrong Chipset in...right from the get go...And it took the MS 3T guy to resolve it, as I could not, or the other tech 2 level dudes, as it said the device was functioning properly, I paid it no mind or worry, nor did they!...And the Drivers for certain things this board supports, would not install correctly or at all, because of these issues MS created for me?, on the latest installation of OS, thought correct was not at all!...MS auto updates also installed My "Video card Driver"...which had a conflict with a unknown device on the MB...AMDA00.(AI suite sensor?)..Was part of the PNP0A0A in its description...So we narrowed that down to the AMDA00 Driver, which could not be installed due to the conflicting Device chain, and ghosting issues, now made by those incorrect MS updates, and us trying to, over and over again!....And it took several Techs from MS ..to Get to the last 3T level tech to solve for all the corruption, many bad tries to install drivers that would not....Where I found my Bliss, when he did what he did, in showing those ghost device drivers installed....And once it was done, and they were all removed, and we started over, without MS updates Updating anything...And I got all the drivers put in right first for the board and the video card, and MS updates installed correctly  after for WIN 7 64 bit on this system, as he used some scripts to remove and or resolve MS update failures ..and all was said to be fine with the system there after, and the unknown device, once in other deice listing page/ now in System device page, still there under that name, but installed correctly....I made backups of that installation...and moved slowly in installing third party drivers...and backed that up, and so on and so forth....One step at a time, check the systems event logs, before moving forward each time....From the beginning....It is the only way to make sure!...Right?...Firmware could cause issues with older drivers being used after flashing the eprom chips ,...also....So, best to check all angles...and keep notes!....Blessings are what I was intending to put forward.....I hope all can have some Bliss, or move towards it, with that info I posted in the link, if all else fails?  or before hand?.......and other solutions being placed here...might help solve for this blink out of time lines?

It could be a video issue...surely...why?... is still unknown...so could be, should be, might be, and etc...are in order?

Oh and I stand by ..."Sometimes updating drivers makes things worse"....sometimes Alex...sometimes....now I know why in some regards....eh?

Thanks Alex for being there for us all!
Regards...and cheers!

...I make my living in music and I don't really have the luxury of stopping work to troubleshoot...

You played the "P" card there without actually using the "P" word.

Lol..
It would probably be quicker to troubleshoot than read this thread now to be honest.

If I have to pay to get it fixed it will be just another reason to use Cubase more and avoid Sonar.  I just need to get some work done.

Just sayin'...

And that's NOT to pick on Cubase...if you'd mentioned any DAW I could have found something equivalent.

Anything that runs on Windows is going to have problems and those problems are going to differ. Think the Mac will solve your problems? Here's a forum devoted to issues regarding a piece of software designed by a company to run only on their hardware...

Point is you will have problems with any DAW. At some point you have to decide whether to live with them, address them...or take up knitting instead

The now time line ... the line that runs vertically is totally invisible in the Piano Roll view when it is sitting on a bar line.
Thankfully I was able to change the color of the inverted pyramid at the top of it to bright red so I can at lest see something.

I can't imagine why it's not using the same type of graphic that is in the track view because the one in the track view is very nice and easily seen.

I rarely see this complaint anymore so yeah... are you on X3(e) yet VV? I think I MAY have gotten it a couple times in X1 or X2 but I was more concerned with other nonsense (that has disappeared now) to notice it.

I'm on X3e and I still have it.

Sorry to hear you are still dealing with this I created at least one post about this last year. I had a couple of graphical quirks when using Sonar X2a and the disappearing Now Time marker was one of them. I opened a support ticket but the issue was random and not reproducible so it didn't go anywhere. It persisted despite trying different drivers and video cards and no other application that had ever run on this system experienced any such issues.

There was also another graphical annoyance in X2a that I could resolve by disabling the aim assist line in the PRV. When enabled, it would visually cut off the ends of the midi notes as it passed over them. I have also seen this behavior in X2 video tutorials on Groove3.

So far I have not experienced the now time problem in X3e (keeping fingers crossed). Also, the aim assist line in the PRV no longer corrupts the display of the notes. I just opened X2a on the same system and it's still graphically chopping off the ends of notes in the PRV.

It goes without saying that they all have problems.  It's just that this one causes me to have to restart the program and has been there for years.

Finding a working solution would be more productive than knitting.

You have 3 options. And I spoke about updating. Over to you then and keep us updated should you decide to take action, sadly there is no magic wand here, nobody is going to do it for you..
