Hi all,

I build a nice FX chain for my guitar and wanted to add the Sonitus Delay. Sync to host will not work will not work for this plugin in the FX Chain (Both normal chain and Pro Channel chain). I know it will need a signal to trigger the sync so I started playback from the relevant track/clip at the position where it plays.

If I put Sonitus Delay directly in the FX bin it will sync fine but I want to add it to the chain for saving it as one preset with the rest of the plugins I added.

By the way... the Nomad Delay VST will sync just fine so it appears to be some kind of DX restriction or something.

Does anyone know? All help is appreciated.

Best regards,

Rinie

I do not believe it is a DX issue. the Cakewalk Tempo Delay seems to follow tempo when placed in an FX Chain. It would appear to be a bug in the DX version Sonitus Delay. I do not have the VST version of the Sonitus Delay to test.

It is not a DX issue, but it is a bug in the plugin. It's been there forever, and affects automation as well. You may be able to get around it by changing the sequence of effects, if that's workable, since it depends on the delay's position in the chain.

Or just use a different delay, if you have an alternative that'll achieve the desired effect.

Thanks... Good to know. Thought I did something wrong or missed some setting. It's a pity that won't work. I like the delay itself. Something is realy nice about the attack and roll off of the delays that make it sound good with guitar. Since it is part of the core package I am unpleasantly surprised that these kind of things are not fixed.

So it's no FX chains or use another delay.

Thanks for the helpfull replies.

I love that delay. It would still be my bread 'n butter go-to delay if not for the unresolved bugs (it also has problems with syncing to tempo changes). I've been trying to find a suitable replacement for it for years. So far FabFilter Timeless2 comes closest to filling its shoes, but Timeless is not nearly as quick or convenient to use.

Does anyone know if the VST version has similar issues?

Agree 100% about how great the delay is. The ability to do extremely short delays, the crossfeed, EQ options, and diffusion parameters make it a very special plug-in.

Maybe someone could ask Cakewalk to port the VST version to 64bit and bundle them with SONAR. Locking them to the DAW would be OK by me.

Yup I think most people would like a 64 bit vst 3 version with bug fixes. Maybe even with pro channel as well. Would be nice to have a bit slick UI as well (think quad curve eq) without it taking away the simplicity and function.

I don't mind the gui at all.  I like it.  However I would like to see these plugins put in the shop for repairs.  I think it's clear that new developments are over for the sonitus plugs.
