I've just received two projects to add vocals and then mix. More than 20 instrument tracks including 12 drum tracks.
I've just mixed the first one. I'm very happy particularly with the drum mix I have. As the second project was also recorded by the same drummer in the same session I would like to copy the tracks' settings and apply them to the drums in the second project.

Is there a quicker way than selecting all the drum tracks in Project 1 and creating a track template. Then inserting that track template into Project 2 then selecting all the clips in Project 2’s drum tracks and dragging them all to the new tracks created when inserting the template. It seems crazy that I already have 12 drum tracks in my Project 2 and then have to create another 12 and then move clips.

Is there a way to quickly apply all the settings from the drum tracks in the template to the drum tracks that already exist in the second project. Or is there another way. By the way these 12 drum tracks include 20 plugin instances and several buses with more effects.

Well, you could create a new project folder, then save the 1st project with the 'Save As' option, and save it to the NEW project folder, making sure to check the box for copying the audio over to the new project.
 
This would give you a complete copy of the 1st project, in a brand new folder, and would have all settings as well as audio copied over from the 1st project.
 
I also recommend changing the name of the project, during the Save As, to match the name of the new project folder you created to place the project in.

Do you mean save project one to new location, then delete all the audio data, then import all the audio data from project 2 into those tracks?

I just went back and read your original post.  I believe I misread it.  All of the steps I had just posted (and just removed) suggested that you create essentially a clone of the 1st project, but I did not realize until reading your post again that there were a bunch of tracks and data already present in the 2nd project.
 
I don't really know of a better way of accomplishing what you are trying to do, other than to do what I think you did - save off the drum tracks as a track template, then insert into the 2nd project and then load them up with the clips.
 
Hopefully someone will have a better way for you.
 
Sorry for any confusion - I think I will take my nap now, and see if I think any more clearly after that.  :)

To speed up the process of dragging clips in, there's an export function that exports each selected track individually so it ends up as its own continuous clip that starts at the beginning of the project.
