Hi all

I was working on a mixing session yesterday and found the need to copy and paste an automation envelope from one bus to another bus

I thought this would be simple so I opened the automation lane containing the envelope I wanted to copy, selected it, copied it (even trying trying "copy special" and just selecting the automation option) and then tried to paste it in to the automation lane of the bus I wanted it in

No dice!?!?!?

When I "pasted" the destination automation lane closed and the lane I had copied from seemed to be made active - as if it had pasted the envelope back over the original location

Am I missing something obvious?

Can others copy and paste envelopes from bus to bus (which is advertised as a new X2 feature)?

Thanks

hey boydie - the best steps i've found are, 0!)hit w to return to the start of the project (because pasting automation happens at the now time)  1) expand the automation lanes for the track im copying from and the one i'm copying to. 2) press control+a to select the entire project 3) click the automation lane in the select area (above the - sign) - this will select only the automation 4) copy (control+c works fine) 5) highlight the track to paste to and use the edit filter to select the automation type you just copied then control+v to paste.

It should work as expected (or does here anyway). Are you sure you are putting the buss "in focus"? Selecting is not the same as "in focus". Sonar always pastes to the"in focus" buss or track which isn't necessarily the selected track or buss. This often causes confusion until properly understood.

When a track or buss is "in focus" the whole track header is a different shade, not just the selection widget over the track/buss number.

Thanks guys

I will double check the "in focus" thing

I have been watching an excellent X2 tuition video lately that I recall points out the same thing!!!

This is not working for me

I have 3 bus envelopes assigned to various R_Mix parameters, and no combination of copy/paste/select/in-focus is working for me

The nearest anything gets to working is the selected data is pasted at the end of the source track. but even this isn't repeatable.

Anybody confirm what I'm seeing, or not seeing?

Hi Colin

Is this on the master buss? I've just tried to copy and paste three automation envelopes assigned to R-mix and it seems to be working here okay. Project corruption? - See PM...

Hi Karl.

Just seen the PM

Nope, I created the initial envelopes on a drum buss and I'm trying to copy & paste them into several other busses.

I was beginning to suspect project corruption over the weekend. This is a very old project that I've resurrected and doing a bit of a remix on it.

I think I'll try it on another project tonight - if this works then it more or less proves the issue

Thanks for your input mate.

Has anyone found a bullet-proof series of steps to copy and paste automation envelopes between buses? X3e here and nothing seems to work. Very frustrating.
I'll move my comments to this this current thread on the topic.
