Sorry to annoy people here but i just have to give it one more try. Already quite some time ago i started to notice a lot of latency (specifically when playing drums). Turned out that my settings went from 6ms round trip to 9ms. And even at 9 giving me a lot of problems (cracks, bleeps etc). I tried everything software wise to fix it, spend days on it! Nothing worked. Another odd thing that happened was that my Quad Capture refused to use 96khz anymore. Still i thought it was a Windows 7 or Sonar setting. Eventually i said **** it and it reinstalled everything. Windows, Sonar etc. For a second i was happy and thought why haven't i done this before, totally assuming everything would work again. But no...to my amazement still the same 9ms crap and not allowed to use 88khz or higher. I basically gave up after that. I still did some guitar stuff but anything else is pretty much impossible. Today i finally went back to the store realizing the only option left is that the Quad has issues. They told me i can return the Quad but it will take 5 weeks before i get it back! If i do that i can't do anything anymore for 5 weeks which is also no option. As i said, i'm gonna give it one more try here...any hints or tips or ideas or welcome. I hoped i would be able to reset the Quad somehow but find nothing about on the internet of documentation so i guess that's no option. Thanks.

When you change the buffer or any setting on the Quad did you unplug it? I know with my UA 1g I must unplug it than back in if I change anything on it. 
But I too notice some problems with Ua 1g cracks and muffle using the audio in port. My set at 44.1 and 16 bit. 
I look up the quad don't know much about the quad capture but have you tried Asio4all? I'm sure Asio is built in the Quad way is in my Ua 1g but Asio4all still helps.  http://asio4all.com/

Another thing I can suggest is Audacity or demo version Fl studio etc. I know sonar takes lot cpu use. 
I own finale and did everything I could stop latency but nothing work to fix it.   

At lease you can judge make sure not Sonar.

If the reported 9ms roundtrip latency disturbes your playing, I'd suspect there's something causing extra latency that is not reported. I'm sure no-one can tell the difference between 6 ms and 9 ms latency. 6-9 ms roundtrip is very good by any standards, even though many can get even under 6.

As you know, it's like standing 6 / 9 feet from the loudspeaker if the loudspeaker is lifted up to your ear-level. If it's a small cabinet on the floor, and you're standing, it more like 4-7 feet distance.

That true I did not think of that. Maybe his Audio interface needs tweaking, Though Quad I'm sure is windows 7 but windows 7 is so tight in security. 

always remember to plug the device in to the same port you installed the drivers with.in other words,if you installed the drivers and had the quad plugged in to usb port 1 in the front,always use this port. never port 2 or others.

have you tried the dpc latency checker to see whats going on ?

I can't get used to it.

" I didn't change the port it's connected to in the first place. Haven't tried the latency checker, will do so soon. Won't solve anything though. I think i'm gonna have to buy a new audio interface...i see no other solution left. No big deal in the end because it was on my to do list anyway i guess.
