Love the guitar riff! Just the right kind of repeating thing that a good rock tune needs as it drives everything forward!

The mix sounds a bit unbalanced. The vocals dominate a little too much and I don't feel the boom from the drums that a good rock tune has to have. The bass drum needs to kick you in the balls!

But this is a very nice track! Just get the mix in place. :)

HI, Tapsa,

Thank you for taking time to give this a listen for me, and for your good input and kind words!

Looks like I’ll have to lower the vocals a bit, and beef up the low end on the drums.  After a 6 or 7 month break from recording and mixing, I’ve been struggling a bit to get my ears back, and it seems from comments on my last few posts, that I’ve been mixing a little light on the low end.

Thanks again for checking this out and commenting, and good luck with your contest entry!
Bob

You'll get there. This is just tweaking now. There's nothing wrong with the actual music. :)

bob,
cool song!
i agree with your assessment of what needs correcting in the mix...
the whole mix is a bit midrange and low end light.
the drums just feel too light,
the bass is kinda mushy,
but-
nice guitar tones,
everything sounds good,
but the mix is off balance..
example: try to imagine the vocals in a place where you can JUST make out all the words..
but no louder than that.
it will make the music feel more powerful,
and give it a more 'band' feel.
fatten the snare...
and give the bass guitar some harmonic stuff above 250k...
in fact,
i'd mix just the drums, bass guitar, and vocals, zero guitars.
then, slowly, bring in the guitars until they just fill in.
and BLAST that frikin' solo!!
LOL

Hi Bob. Man you are a killer player and this is another one of your gems. I don't know how you do it - so consistently come up with creative tunes.

This is a great one.

Thanks again, Tapsa, greatly appreciated, my friend!

I took your and Bat's advice for the new mix, lowering the vocals, punching up the low end on the drums, and re-ed the bass a bit.

Hopefully it's getting closer to where it should be.

Thanks for your good input!

Best Wishes,
Bob

Hey, Rob,

How's it going, bro?  Hope you're doing well and selling a ton of your great new album, your stuff is always excellent!

Thanks for checking this one out for me and for your very good advice and comments!

For this second mix, I took Tapsa's and your advice, and beefed up low end on the kick and snare, lowered the vocals quite a bit, and bumped up the mids on the bass guitar.  I'm hoping the mix is shaping up and coming across more balanced.

I really appreciate your input, and detailed suggestions on how to get back on track with this one, and I'm truly grateful for your support and friendship!

Have a good one!
Bob

Hey Bob. Really good song and playing!
Still need more bottom! Some timing issues between lead vocal and the track. Should fix that ASAP.
The song is really nice. Guitars are done really well.
