Hey, Rob,
How's it going, bro? Hope you're doing well and selling a ton of your great new album, your stuff is always excellent!
thanks man, but nah, everybody's pretty much ignoring my release,
very few sales,
very few comments.
Bob Oister
Thanks for checking this one out for me and for your very good advice and comments!
For this second mix, I took Tapsa's and your advice, and beefed up low end on the kick and snare, lowered the vocals quite a bit, and bumped up the mids on the bass guitar. I'm hoping the mix is shaping up and coming across more balanced.
I really appreciate your input, and detailed suggestions on how to get back on track with this one, and I'm truly grateful for your support and friendship!
Have a good one!
Bob
you know, sometimes 'boosting' on bass, isn't the way to go...
sometimes, that only adds mud.
to get a little deeper into it,
i'd suggest looking at the bass thru a freq analyzer, and figuring out where the bass PEAKS are, at what frequency,
and instead of boosting everywhere else, CUT at those frequencies, so that are closer to the other freq levels.
then, bring the entire bass track UP in level, til it's really strong in the mix, but is not boomy anywhere....
that way, you get all the good harmonics that you captured WITHOUT having to boost (which often times causes masking issues elsewhere, and creates linear phase issues)
