Recently, I have release my 1st funk tune called, "I'm Too Sexy For Myself." Overall, I'm very happy with the way it turned out. However, I'm always looking for suggestions to improve my tunes, as well.
 
This funk tune was written and recorded to have that old school funk vibe. It's more 80's funk, for flavor. Furthermore, many music professionals are comparing it to, "I'm To Sexy." That could be good and it could be bad, depending on how one looks at it.
 
One word of caution is that this tune is about getting laid. Therefore, it won't appear to everyone. However, the tune doesn't contain foul/cussing language.

Honestly I don't care for the vocal melody or lyrics.  But...everything else is great.  Good, tight mix and I like the female vocal bits thrown in on the verse.  You're right, I feel that 80's vibe.  It's well written and I liked the music well enough.  Anyone into this genre should really like it and keep it in their rotation.

Thank you for your comments:) Even if you don't like the vocal melody and/or lyrics, what you have said is still a positive thing. I have about 50 hours of vocal training, therefore, I'm not a polished singer yet. In time, I'll improve my vocal technique and style. I also believe that you're right about people who are into the funk genre, that they will probably like it and keep it in their rotation.

Thanks for your comments: The vocals could be a bit more funky, however, I'm not polished enough yet. For me, the vocals come off more like that 80's white funk style. I believe it's more like KC and the Sunshine Band, probably nothing that wrong with it, just a little out dated.
 
Overall, my goal is to write tunes that will inspire others to record them. Therefore, I'm more of a songwriter that sings lead vocals on some of his tunes. I don't have any intentions of getting back on stage in the near future. I'm 65 years old cancer survivor, that is basically retired:)

Glad you like the tune:) One day in the future, I may record the lead vocals over again. However, I'll need to improve quite a bit before doing so.

would not do them 16th notes on hats/tambourine throughout the song.
8ths and a open hat here and there before the snarehits would be my choice.
