Wouldn't normally dream of going to see a Disney movie, in fact you can count on one hand the number of times I've been to the movies in the last 10 years because I'm not a going to the movies kind of person at all, but my girlfriend really wanted to see it and she managed to get $4 tickets for a late showing downtown so we went.

I have to say though it was pretty good. Yes it's a cheesy Disney plot and yes Emma what's her name can't sing (the Autotune really slaps you in the face, it's so obvious) but visually it's a truly stunning production. And we saw it in 3D, I have to say that's the first 3D movie I've seen since Jaws 3D on VHS more than 30 years ago, so the eye candy factor was off the charts. I was just totally blown away with how advanced visual trickery is these days. In fact watching 3D trailers for The Smurfs and Despicable Me 3 even made me want to go see those movies, too.

The only thing that spoiled the movie experience tonight was the ridiculous volume levels. It was on the level of permanent hearing damage, we had our fingers in our ears for half the film. I just want to wring whomever sets levels like this by the neck, fricken idiots. It was painful.

Well, isn't the latest Star Wars also (more or less) a Disney film? Haven't seen it yet, but many say the magic is (more or less) back.

Volume levels are my biggest problem with the movies today. I agree, the sound level is excessive. Just be glad you weren't at one of those Marvel movies where the invaders are destroying New York. Louder that a Rush concert.

Yeah the action scenes are deafening. Thankfully they were kept to a minimum during this movie as you can imagine, but when they happened it left me wondering how anyone has any nerves left in their ears after watching an action blockbuster.

Last movie I saw in a cinema was Spectre in an IMax, incredible sound. Can't be doing with 3-D though, that gives me a headache.

The last movie I saw in an actual theater was the premiere of the Rock (really!).
