  • Drum map note name still cut off in Piano Roll in X3?

Whenever I open the piano roll for a synth that has a drum map, the names are always cut off on the right hand side because the column is too narrow. I can widen that column by dragging the nearby divider, but when I re-open the piano roll, the divider has reverted to its original position and the name column is back to a default size. This gets infuriating over a long session as I need to pull that divider out every time I open the window! I've had this problem since time immemorial but I was hoping it would be fixed in X3. Anybody know if there's a setting I can tweak somewhere?

Nothing I know of.  This is one of the rather minor improvements it seems that Cakewalk could make to the drum maps in general that seems to have gone unmodified since about Sonar 5.  My video on my site goes over the whole plugin and it looks nearly the same today as it does in the video, which is why I haven't redone it! :(

I had high hopes that when the drum grid edit view came along and integrated into the drum maps directly that we'd see a few bugs flattened and maybe a few new features added - and a GUI update as well.  But alas, none of these things seem to have happened.

Ok, I reported this as issue CWBRN-26976 because it's been annoying me for too long!

Blades is right.
This has been a long standing source of complaint for a LONG time.

The other major issue with drum maps is you lose the ability to quickly solo/mute a kit piece without resorting to some creative group/folder organisation

Drum maps. One of Sonar's more powerful features and one of the most powerful reminders of why I gave up thinking I shouldn't give up.

I wish there was a way for us to vote on the bug report/enhancement requests.
This one bothers the heck out of me too.
And while we're on the subject of Drum Maps... the Ctrl+Shft port change trick described here gets my vote for the most arcane, yet essential tip ever...

If I have a MIDI track routed to my instance of Addictive Drums, and I select "new Drum Map" and select the XLN Addictive Drums preset, you'd think it would be smart enough to retain the existing routing to the plugin, but no... I think it goes back to the default MIDI port or something. Anyway... rant over.

I wish I'd known about that one. I've been doing it the tedious way.

I knew about this one, thanks to Mr Garrigus!

I'll add the OP to my bug list. Whole damn thing needs a redesign and rewrite though... And probably needs to be exorcised by the catholic church.
